Realm of Strife™ > Getting Started

What is Realm of Strife?

Realm of Strife is a free-to-play Tactical Tabletop Role Playing game. If you’ve never played played a tabletop RPG before, think of it as collective storytelling, where one Game Master (GM) acts as the narrator and everyone else at the table controls the actions and dialogue of one of the main characters of the story. If you’re already familiar with Tabletop RPGs, Realm of Strife offers a slightly more tactical edge to combat encounters and dives deep into character customization. But more than just a rule set, Realm of Strife is also a pre-built fantasy setting that provides a rich back drop for a limitless number of ongoing adventures or campaigns, capable of stretching over not just months but years.

Where do I go from here?

Whether you’re new to tabletop role playing games (RPGs) or just Realm of Strife in particular, it can be a little daunting to dive into the massive amount of content on this website. We’re here to help!

This page is currently under construction, but will be aimed at helping to get you started on your adventures in the Realm of Strife. Eventually we will include step by step instructions on how to get a play session going.

We are also in the process of developing some video tutorials to help you grasp the basic rules and systems of Realm of Strife.

Our team is small, and we’re developing Realm of Strife in our spare time, so please be patient as we add to this page.

Quick Play

In the meantime, might we suggest a good place to start would be to find group of 3-5 friends and download the printable PDFs found on the Demo Characters page.

If one of the friends in your group has some previous RPG experience ask them to be the Game Master (GM), while the rest of you take on the role of Player Characters (PCs). Put yourself in a simple arena with 1 Ogre Pillager per PC.

Have the GM control the Ogres (you can find stat blocks for the Ogre Pillagers by using the “search” field found above the tables in the Codex of Creation: Greenskins. While this won’t teach you much about roleplaying, it will at least familiarize you with the rules for Combat and give you a taste of some of the available Classes.

Message us and someone from our team can even run you through this quick demo battle on roll20.net

If you have any questions, by all means contact us via Facebook, Instagram, or email at realmofstrife@gmail.com and we’d love to help you get started. Better yet, if you live in the Calgary area, we’d be happy to organize a demo and teach someone from your group how to GM the Realm of Strife ruleset.
