House Alincour and the Fighting Pits
Woggie is tricked into participating in a mage pit-fight between Colleges and the Lamp Lighters Union. He wins easily but realizes the Lamp Lighters are being forced to fight, leading to a loss of reputation with the Lamp Lighters Union.
Shariekk takes a contract from the Cult of the Wyrm through the Assassin’s Guild to assassinate Lieutenant Bolarus, a corrupt Volanthian City Guard officer tied to illegal fighting pits. The assassination method involves an enchanted seed that will grow into a tree inside Bolarus, consuming his body, and must be observed in public. Success will gain Shariekk reputation with the Assassin’s Guild and the Cult of the Wyrm.
Merek is contacted by the Lamp Lighters Guild to infiltrate an underground fighting pit to rescue abducted guild members. He needs to open the doors from the inside during a fight, allowing the Guild to rush in. He can earn up to 600 gp and gain reputation with the Lamp Lighters Guild.
Arthur is invited to the “friendly sporting event” and becomes suspicious as they travel to the underground pits. He risks being trapped if he tries to leave, and will lose reputation with the Lamp Lighters Union if he actively cheers for the Colleges.
The climax involves Shariekk’s assassination of Lt. Bolarus happening simultaneously with Merek opening the pit doors. The enchanted seed has an unexpected side effect, turning the tree into a crazed Greater Ent that attacks everyone. Bolarus’s men believe Merek is responsible and block his escape.
